According to CBS 13, WGME, the town of Harpswell was scammed out of about $190,000, when more than $189,000 was paid to someone posing as a vendor.
Currently, law enforcement is investigating, as the town says is working to recover the money. They are also reviewing their procedures to prevent a similar situation from ever occurring again.
