The 988-suicide crisis hotline connects people experiencing mental health crises, suicidal thoughts, or substance use issues to trained support through a nationwide network of crisis centers.

Governor Janet Mills signed that bill into law on Friday, April 11, that makes it part of the state’s behavioral health and crisis intervention framework.

The new law goes into effect later this year.
