Auburn Police say they responded to an armed robbery on Lake Street in Auburn at about 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 4.

Three juvenile suspects are now facing felony charges after reportedly taking part in an armed robbery that led to a 10-hour standoff with police.

One of the suspects charged is a 15-year-old male. The other two are 17-year-old males.

From the Auburn Police Department:

On May 4, 2025, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Auburn Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at 133 Lake Street in Auburn. The victim, a 17-year-old male, reported that he had been robbed of his clothing, shoes, and other personal belongings by individuals brandishing and threatening him with a firearm and a knife. The victim stated that he fled the apartment while the suspects pursued him on foot with the weapons. Upon arrival, officers located the suspects inside a second-floor apartment at the same address. The suspects initially refused to comply with officers who had surrounded the building. Given that the individuals were reportedly armed and had threatened violence, Auburn Police requested assistance from the Maine State Police Tactical Team and mutual aid from surrounding law enforcement agencies. After several hours, nine individuals, ranging in age from 13 to 21, exited the building without incident. However, one 17-year-old male suspect—reported to have brandished the firearm—remained barricaded inside and refused to cooperate with law enforcement. After Auburn Detectives secured a search warrant, the Maine State Police Tactical Team attempted to enter the apartment. During this effort, the remaining suspect jumped from a second-story window and was quickly apprehended, bringing the nearly 10-hour incident to a peaceful end.

This investigation is ongoing. So far, three juveniles have been charged with various offenses, including:
• Robbery (Class A)
• Theft (Class B)
• Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon (Class C)
• Assault (Class D)
• Creating a Police Stand Off (Class E)
