UPDATE: The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 66-year-old Cliff Hannon of Oakland was seriously injured in a home explosion and had to be airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The house is a total loss and neighboring homes sustained damage in the Thanksgiving Day incident.

UPDATE:

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause of an explosion that occurred yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Lakeview Drive in Oakland. The two-story residence was destroyed in the blast. Initial indications are that a propane gas leak found an ignition source, leading to the explosion. Investigators have ruled out the propane tanks themselves as the source of the leak and are now examining several propane appliances for the cause.

Cliff Hannon, 66, was inside the home at the time of the explosion. Hannon sustained serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center.

Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office remain on scene today, working alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Oakland Police and Fire Departments, Maine State Police, and Maine Propane and Fuel Inspectors to determine the cause of the explosion.
