A 27-year-old Lewiston man has pleaded guilt in U.S. District Court to federal charges of possessing large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl with intent to distribute, along with using a firearm in connection with his drug trafficking operation.

Muktar Abshir Aden admitted to selling drugs to law enforcement confidential sources and undercover officers on six separate occasions throughout 2024. The case culminated in an October 2024 search of his residence, where investigators seized nearly three kilograms of methamphetamine and two kilograms of fentanyl. Authorities also recovered at least five firearms, including one that had been previously reported stolen.

According to court records, Aden possessed more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and more than 400 grams of fentanyl as part of his distribution activities. The inclusion of a firearm enhancement in the charges significantly increases the severity of his potential sentence.

Aden now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum of life imprisonment. He could also be ordered to pay a fine of up to $10 million and could face up to a lifetime of supervised release following any prison term.

Sentencing will occur after the U.S. Probation Office completes a presentence investigation report. A federal district court judge will determine the final sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

Aden remains in custody pending sentencing.
