A Dresden man is facing charges after authorities say a road rage incident in Woolwich escalated into a violent assault involving a handgun.
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened the morning of July 23 on Old Stage Road. Investigators say the victim was being tailgated before another driver cut him off and stopped in the roadway.
According to police, both men got out of their vehicles, and when the victim tried to photograph the other driver and his vehicle, the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the phone. The suspect then allegedly chased the victim, struck him in the head with the gun, and fired one shot before fleeing. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Deputies recovered a handgun holster and a spent 9mm shell casing at the scene. Using surveillance video, a forensic sketch, and assistance from the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the National Insurance Crime Bureau, investigators identified the suspect as Jamie Kramer of Dresden.
Kramer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. He was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail and held on $1,000 cash bail.
