Skowhegan Police seized 37.3 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop on North Avenue, Jan. 27.

From the Skowhegan Police Department:

At approximately 5pm last night, Cpl. Lafreniere stopped a 2012 Silver Honda CRV Utility vehicle in the parking lot of Georges Banana Stand. The driver, 38-year-old Celeste Wing of the Town of Hartland, was driving on a suspended driver’s license. During the officer’s investigation, Cpl. Lafreniere observed someone in the back seat throw something inside the vehicle. A check on the rear occupants identified them as 22-year-old Zechariah Sawyer from the Town of Warren and 38-year-old Travis Quimby of the Town of Madison. As they continued to investigate, Cpl. Lafreniere and Officer Burns found a package, which tested positive for Fentanyl, in the front passenger side of the vehicle. This package eventually led them to Zachary who had remnants of Fentanyl in his pockets and pants. He was ultimately arrested for aggravated trafficking scheduled W drugs (class A) and is currently be held on $50,000 cash bail at the Somerset County Correctional Facility. Travis had a warrant for failure to appear in Kennebec County and was also arrested. Celeste received a summons on operating on a suspended license and was released from the scene. Overall, amazing job by both Officers. They removed a large quantity of dangerous drugs from the street as well as the individuals involved.
