Beautiful Lakewood Theater and Restaurant in Madison is a go-to for dinner and laughs and, if you’ve not been, you’re missing out on a great time at this historic venue.
This season so far, they’ve presented Parlor Games, Love and Murder, Clue and currently, A Texas Carol (get tix for that one here).
The next show is about a show…a show that goes wrong and ends up with a murder being committed. Trust me, you WILL laugh at this musical comedy.
Here’s a rundown on this show, which opens July 30th.
The curtain was supposed to rise on Broadway’s newest musical, but instead, it fell on a shocking mystery.
On opening night, the show’s leading actress suddenly collapses after the final bow, leaving the cast and crew stunned. With the theater locked down, everyone becomes a suspect. Rivalries, hidden romances, bruised egos, and long-kept secrets quickly come to light as detectives search for the killer.
Leading the investigation is Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, a detective with an unexpected passion for musical theater. As he interviews nervous actors, frustrated producers, and ambitious understudies, he discovers that nearly everyone had a reason to want the star out of the spotlight.
With humor, catchy songs, and plenty of twists, Cioffi pieces together the clues while helping the struggling production become a better show. In the end, the murderer is unmasked in a dramatic finale on stage, proving that even behind the brightest footlights, the darkest secrets can hide.
Curtains blends classic whodunit suspense with Broadway comedy, celebrating the magic of live theater while reminding audiences that the greatest performances sometimes happen offstage.
