A Maine business is getting its big television moment this week when Cold Current Kelp appears on the season premiere of ABC’s Shark Tank, reports WMTW TV.

Kittery-based Cold Current Kelp was started about five years ago by Inga Potter and Krista Rosen, who began growing kelp to explore its potential benefits. Their research eventually led to Kelp Glow, a facial oil designed to take advantage of kelp’s hydrating and soothing properties.

The company was previously featured in a “Made in Maine” segment, and after hearing customers repeatedly tell them they should try Shark Tank, Potter and Rosen eventually decided to take the advice.

Now, they’ll pitch their business to the show’s panel of investors during the two-hour Season 18 premiere, airing Wednesday at 9 p.m. on WMTW Channel 8.

Shark Tank premiered in 2009 and has helped launch several highly successful businesses, including Maine-based Cousins Maine Lobster.

This season’s Sharks include Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Daniel Lubetzky, Kevin O’Leary, Kendra Scott and Rashaun Williams.
