28-year-old Christian Newton of Skowhegan has been arrested in connection with a series of recent destructive acts at the Southside Cemetery. Multiple headstones and angel statues were recently vandalized.
Police have not released specific details on the extent of the damage or nature of the vandalism.
The investigation remains active and that authorities believe additional individuals were involved in the incidents.

This needless destruction is unacceptable and damaging to the community. I urge the remaining parties to clear their conscience and turn themselves in. We will not rest until this investigation is closed.
