The Rumford Police Department has arrested and extradited 27-year-old Avery Bryce Allin, of Berkeley County, South Carolina, on a felony charge of sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest follows a multi-jurisdictional investigation involving local, out-of-state, and federal partners.

From the Rumford Police Department:

The case originated in Rumford and involved sexually explicit images sent by Allin to a child under the age of 12. Rumford Police investigators, working closely with a specially designated prosecutor from the Oxford County District Attorney’s Office, pursued leads that ultimately led to the identification of Allin as the suspect. A nationwide arrest warrant was secured as part of the case strategy.

On June 23, 2025, officers from the Goose Creek Police Department in South Carolina located and arrested Allin without incident on behalf of the Rumford Police Department. Following his arrest, Allin waived his right to formal extradition proceedings, choosing instead to voluntarily allow Rumford Police to take custody and transport him to Maine to face charges. This eliminated the need for a Governor’s warrant and related court proceedings.

On July 10, 2025, two Rumford Police officers traveled to South Carolina, took custody of Allin from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and transported him back to Maine. He was transported to the Oxford County Jail and held pending an arraignment.

Statement from Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan:

We’re seeing far too many cases where adults engage in sexually explicit conversations and send graphic material to children. These acts cause lasting psychological harm and violate the trust and safety every child deserves. As parents, it’s not enough to simply worry about physical threats—we must also stay vigilant against the dangers that exist online. Please monitor your children’s internet use, talk with them openly about online safety, and strongly consider using parental control tools and monitoring software.

And let me be clear: We don’t care if you’re in Alaska, New Hampshire, or anywhere in between—if you harm a member of our community and we can fly or drive there, we’re coming for you. We will do what it takes to bring offenders to justice, no matter how busy we are or what it costs. Because this is important. Our children’s safety is not negotiable.
