The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office reports a two-vehicle head on crash at the intersection of Turner Center Road and Bradford Road in Turner.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, Jan. 6. The crash is under investigation.
From The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office:
Deputies along with Turner Fire-Rescue were immediately dispatched to the scene. Preliminary investigation shows that Dana Wessling, age 52 of Turner was traveling west on the Turner Center Road. Wessling, who is a Lieutenant for the Monmouth Police Department, was operating his take home cruiser, a black 2022 Ford Interceptor which is owned by the Town of Monmouth. Sean McNeil, age 41, of Minot was traveling east on Turner Center Road. McNeil was operating a silver 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck owned by him. Evidence at the scene shows that McNeil came around a curve and crossed the centerline and was in Wessling’s lane when the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles sustained extensive front end damage and are considered to be totaled. Wessling had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to a nearby landing zone where he was transferred over to LifeFlight and flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Wessling, who was on his way home at the end of his shift, had just picked up his 7-year-old son at daycare. His son was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital to be examined for precautionary reasons. McNeil and his passenger, a 47-year-old female from Turner, were both transported by Turner and Buckfield Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Crash reconstructionists from the sheriff’s office and the Lewiston Police Department were on scene reconstructing the crash. The crash investigation is still active and ongoing at this time.
