A Lewiston man is facing possible charges after police say his car crashed into an Auburn pizza shop early Monday morning.
Auburn police were called to Heathco’s Pizza & Variety on Court Street just after 3:25 a.m. The investigation found that a car heading west left the road and slammed into the business, breaking through a wall.
Police identified the driver as 21-year-old Silvirinelth Paulo Da Silva of Lewiston. He suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Investigators say speed appears to have played a role in the crash, and they are also looking into whether Da Silva was driving under the influence.
Police say charges are expected, according to WMTW TV.
