51-year-old Eric Newell died after being shot by two Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies, March 29, at 229 Tucker Road in Hartford.
According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, an 80-year-old man reporting a domestic assault. The caller said that the assault was committed by his stepson, 51-year-old Eric Newell. When deputies arrived, they tried to talk with Newell, but attempts at de-escalation were unsuccessful.
Newell emerged from the house armed with a knife. Newell did not comply with commands issued and was shot. He died at the scene.
