It takes a pretty dumb thief to so boldly steal a package as he is out canvassing for a political candidate, but they do exist and here’s a case in point.
A Woolwich woman says a political canvasser took an Amazon package from her front porch Wednesday after leaving behind a flyer supporting U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, according to WMTW TV.
Marion Cressey provided doorbell video showing a man canvassing for Stronger Maine, a conservative political group. The video appears to show him placing a Collins flyer on her door, looking around and then picking up the package before leaving.
Cressey said she watched the footage several times before realizing what she was seeing and decided to share it with neighbors as a warning.
“I was dumbfounded,” Cressey said. “If you see something, say something. This could have been worse.”
According to Stronger Maine, the thief has been fired and has been identified according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office. He is expected to face charges.
Cressey said she has not been reimbursed for the package.
