A Georgia man is facing serious charges after police say he repeatedly tried to hit a woman with his vehicle after she simply said “good morning” to him during a morning jog.
Jesse Allen Davis, 21, was arrested in connection with the July 19 incident in Marietta and charged with aggravated assault and hit-and-run.
According to investigators, the woman told police she greeted Davis as she passed him while jogging. Police allege that Davis then got into his vehicle, drove toward her and made several attempts to strike her.
The woman called 911 and took cover behind a garbage can while the incident unfolded.
A nearby resident told WSB-TV that the vehicle nearly hit both him and the jogger as it sped through the neighborhood.
Police said Davis eventually fled, crashed into another vehicle and then struck a utility pole. Officers responding to the crash arrested him.
Davis was booked into the Cobb County Jail and remains held without bond. No court date has been set.
