From the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office:
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office handled two distinct incidents involving individuals who failed to comply with law enforcement during situations related to domestic violence offenses. These events required considerable time and resources to address effectively. On September 22, 2025, at 5:52 PM, deputies responded to a call in the Town of Hermon, where a victim reported that their significant other, Timothy Pendleton, 44, of Hermon, was destroying property at their residence. The victim had a court-granted protection order against Pendleton, which had not yet been served. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to serve the protection order, but Pendleton refused to accept it, leave the residence, or surrender to law enforcement after being informed of his arrest. Sheriff’s deputies obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant, ultimately arresting Pendleton for violation of a protective order, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and domestic violence terrorizing.
In a separate incident on September 23, 2025, at approximately 4:19 PM, deputies responded to a call in Levant regarding Travis Rideout, 36, of Levant, who was acting disorderly at a residence. Following an investigation, deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Rideout for domestic violence and criminal threatening. Rideout also refused to surrender to law enforcement, prompting deputies to surround the residence and again apply for an arrest warrant and search warrant. After several hours, Rideout surrendered to authorities. Rideout was charged with Domestic Violence and Criminal Threatening. Both incidents were related to domestic violence crimes and involved standoffs. Fortunately, they were resolved without escalating into further violence. A significant number of resources had to be utilized to ensure the safety of the victims and other members of the community during these situations. The deliberate actions of these two individuals impacted how we were able to provide services to many others in need during this time.
Both individuals were released on bail.
