My wife Marie-Anne (MAJ) worked at the VA for many years as a Registered Nurse who cared for veterans. She’s always held a special place in her heart for those who offered their lives for our freedom and she’s ALWAYS wanted to volunteer of a project like Honor Flight Maine.
This year, she got her chance.

Veterans from all over the state flew to Maryland where they boarded three different buses. There was a red one, a white one and a blue one. All were filled with vets of all ages, from an ROTC student who was seventeen to a ninety-nine year old World War II veteral.
They visited memorials, Arlington National Cemetary, monuments and more. They were treated to a premier of the movie, Where We Once Stood, produced by Gary Sinise and dedicated to the millions of Americans who served in Vietnam. The trailer, along with a Newscenter Maine report and a video from the Jetport (showing the return to Maine), is below.
God Bless America was played proudly by a live band as the vets made their way in to the welcome home ceremony.
